Expected to be a romantic movie from the director of VIP, punnagai poove, 16-Pathinaaru has Shiva and Madhu shalini in lead roles. For his friend Shiva, Yuvan has composed the music at no cost for the movie if all the reports in the tabloids are to be believed. This has the regular signature of Yuvan.
One pathos sung by Yuvan to keep the custom/culture he has been following or practicing for the past three years. He has sung one pathos in most of the movies he has composed in the last three years. I dont know why its always him....and the pathos is always about lady love being lost, about to be lost...well a melancholic tune seems to be his string of guitar!!!!! Yaar solli kadhal is the track and it is nice to hear again. I would not argue about these pathos rendered by him. They are always nice to hear and has good lyrics. This too is no exception.
Similar to the Nimirndu Nil track from Saroja, this album too has Shankar Mahadevan lending his voice for a similar track Vaanam Namadhe which is fast paced, has lyrics on similar lines to boost the morale of the listener. Well when u hear it casually u will surely be confused whether its the track from Saroja or 16.
The team of Hariharan and Yuvan have always given us some excellent numbers to hum and Ada da en meethu is no exception. Wonderful lyrics from Karthik Netha and nicely accompanied by Bela Shende this is a breezy romantic duet. A track that will catch up with the youth when their ears are entertained the first time.
Kaattu Cheikku a track reflecting some memories surprisingly rendered by Karthik Raja who sounds a mix of young IR and Middle aged Gangai Amaran. A very nice folk that sets the legs tapping.
Finally there is a theme music. Yuvan has developed the habit of delivering some of the best instrumental tracks since the time of his first movie. This track is no exception and a must listen. All the songs are penned by Snehan except one and they make the ears feel happy.
Yuvan signature album.
3.5/5
