The much waited tracks of GOA were released a few days back. This is the third venture of venkat prabhu after chennai-600028 and saroja. As usual his cousin Yuvan has handled the music department for the movie.
Illayaraja, karthik raja, yuvan shankar raja, bhavathariri, venkat prabhu, premji amaran have lent their voice. Apart from them there are some prominent people SPB Sr and Jr, Chitra....the list goes on. There a total of nine tracks, out of which i guess only 4-5 will be featured as a full fledged song.
Now coming to the individual tracks. Which one should i talk about first??!!!! :D:D
Every track is special and good in its own way.
Ooru nalla oru is one track of the lot, i would give the least rating. Maestro has lent his voice, set on a melancholic background, this doesn't produce the required punch.
Valibaa vada vada rendered by some geniuses...SPB, chitra, illayaraja. This has been penned by gangai amaran. This starts like another odd song. With the mix of various ragas and as chitra joins the party, this song is really good to hear.
Kaadal Endral is a small piece sung by yuvan himself, is good to hear. I guess this will be a background,score....A slow version of a duet in the movie....
The energy pumpped in by mamta mohandas and benny dayal for the song Idai vazhi, does not go waste. When the song starts, one could feel the start of boring phase, it even reminded me of one song from parasuram(ARR music)...but as i kept listening to it, the energy and rythm that this song traverses through is great...this song has really come out well.
Goa, the theme music is a peppy number...this is a sure hit...the club mix of this one will surely be on air for a long time.
A perfect folk song is the Adida! Nayandiye. Perfectly rendered by SPB jr and yugendran. Lyrics are really good for a folk item and this is good.
Now coming to the final two....These are the best of the lot.
Idu varai, rendered by andrea & ajeesh carries you through a vibrant romantic ride. Both the singers have emoted the required emotions...A bit more could have added more beauty though.
Now to the final one, penned by gangai amaran, sung by the five cousins with no second thoughts yelelu thalaimurai rocks. Whether gangai amaran penned the lyrics keeping in mind their history or it came out in a flow, i am not sure...this is really good folk number.
Overall the album is great 3.5/5.
