True this is one another album for the mozart....and that is all to it. It will not be notable point in his career graph except for the reason this is his first (maybe only) album with gautam. Why do i say this??? I have listened to it a hundred times by now....and i guess i can have my own opinion by now.
There are totally seven tracks. Out of this i would not like to comment on two tracks.
1) anbil avan - the more i hear, the more i am kept reminded about a track from parasuram.
2) Kannukul kannai - somewhere i feel ATM's ella pugzham is buried
But i must admit the level of quality and the choice of instruments/sounds that have gone into the making of these two songs....They are really awesome...
Of the rest 5, Omana penne attracted me the least. The blend of the strings for the carnatic rythm is soothing and a mix of gramaphone type voice inbetween is good to hear. Good track.
Vinnaithandi varuvaya by karthik is awesome. The lyrics are good. A little disapoitment towards the end as the rythm gets too predictable.....felt like they wanted something similar to en swase katre title track....but nice work from karthik
There is no words to express the beauty of HOSANA. The way the track starts and the way blaze chips in his part, the kind of strings that have gone in the making. They are awe-inspiring. But towards the end instead of the boring hymns of hosana, something else could have gone in there...and this were i was reminded of yedo yedo fom E20U18
Mannipaya is a true master piece from the BOSS. Be it the lyrics or the end note from shreya ghosal or the way rahman starts his part...they are mind blowing and a true master piece.
Now for the final one...Alphons Joseph and ARR, they have done a woderfult job here. A blend of rock/blue and the traditional carnatic tune. A beautiful tune and well appreciated start with heavy guitars....beautiful..
Overall this is another great album from ARR by all standards...but as any other ARR fan, i had expected a lot more happening in this album and feel a bit let down.
I agree that when i keep hearing these songs again again i will fall in love with them...but definitley...not the best from ARR.
BTW, THAMARAI has been a heavy let down with her lyrics :(:(
3.5/5.
